Jessica McCrindle
Jessica is a multi talented Circus artist specialising in Tightwire, Hula hoops and Acrobatics. Jess began her circus career in Tasmanian youth circus ‘Slipstream Circus’ while also succeeding as a gymnast -representing Tasmania at National Levels Championships. She completed professional circus training at NICA, Tightwire at Academie Fratellini, and Highwire with Denis Josslin in France and trained clown at Ecole Phillipe Gaulier in Paris. She has worked extensively as a freelance artist – performing, directing, teaching and creative consulting.
Jessica is one half of the company “Wired Stunts” specialising in Funambulism (wire walking) with her partner Kane Petersen. Highlights include Eureka Tower Skywalk (Melbourne 2015), ABCs ‘Redesign my Brain – series 2’ as Todd Sampson’s trainer for his daredevil finale skywalk (2015) and recreating an ‘Elephant walks a Highwire’ for Luna Park’s 100 year anniversary celebrations (Melbourne 2012). Jessica has successfully produced and toured her own work nationally, as well as, collaborating with Australia’s leading contemporary circus companies touring nationally and internationally with Company 2, Circus Oz, Circus Quirkus, and Circa, to name a few. In 2016, she also co-produced and curated the 2016 Tasmanian Circus Festival, and in 2023 produced and co-ordinated Circus Town as part of PANGAEA festival. .
Moreover, Jessica has 20 years of experience teaching Circus. From designing and implementing training programs, train the trainers, facilitating creative exploration, running masterclasses, outreach work, to producing events and shows. She has worked for schools, in communities, at festivals and for some of Australia’s premier training centres including NICA, Flying Fruit Flies, Circus Oz, Westside Circus, Flipside Circus, ATYP and abroad with Belfast Community Circus. Early in her career Jessica held the role of Co-Artistic Director and Head Trainer at Slipstream Circus where she developed and implemented a training program that has seen many of her students go on to successful careers in the arts.
